Start at the ancient remains of Ongar castle behind the Ongar Library car park

The Pleasance

Distance / Terrain

Aproximately 45 Miles on  trails consisting of mostly footpaths and bridleways with some road/pavement through villages.


Start Time

8am sharp

There are plenty of places to stay in Ongar or nearby the night before. 



07:00 - 07:45 registration. Numbers and Maps will collected at registration.



All checkpoints will have Water/Squash/Coke and basic food such as fruit/cake/biscuits/sweets/snacks and anything else I find on offer in Tesco's on the day.

The 4 Cp's will be at:

7.9 miles cut off time 2hrs 30mins (10:30am)

15.8 miles cut off time 4hours 45mins (12:45pm)

25.4 miles cut off time 7hours 30mins (15:30)

34.9 miles cut of time 10hours 30mins (18:30)

Finish 13 hours (21:00)



Cut Off Times

13 hours overall, individual cut offs at each CP to ensure there is not too much spread and no-one is out too long after dark.



All runners will get a written route description and map. The route is way marked with St Peters way Markers.



At the start there is a free car park where vehicles can be left for the day. If that car park is full then there are local car parks. Most do not charge for Sunday but please check signs before parking. The race will provide transport back to the start after the race as soon as is possible if requested on the entry form.

At the finish there is a carpark then a 5min walk to the chapel along a track.


Changing/Drop Bag

There will be no facilities at the start or finish apart from a space to change at the end of the race in the Chapl. Please hand in a drop bag of clean/dry clothes to change into to after the race so you do not get cold whilst waiting for your lift or transport back to the start. There are no toilet facilities at either the start or finish. We have been given permission to shelter in the chapel after the race until you are picked up.



Transport will be provided from the finish back to the start car park as soon as possible after the race as runners finish. Please tick the box on the entry form if you require a lift back to the start so we can ensure adequate transport is provided. If you do not let us know that you need transport we will not be responsible for your transport at the finish as we will look after those that have booked transport.



There will be first aid qualified people in the crews but for any emergency care please dial 999 then call the race dorector 07809330900..


Dropping Out

If you need to drop out please phone the race director and let him know, or tell a marshal. If you can organise your own transport then please do so. We will come and get you when we can but you may have a long wait if we are transporting others at the time.


Essential Kit

We would request that all runners carry a minimum amount of kit.


Compulsory Items (In addition to whatever you are wearing at the start)

1ltr of fluids in bottles or a bladder.

Spare food (minimum of a large choccy bar or 4 gels)

Waterproof Jacket (not just windproof must have taped seams)

Warm kit in case of poor weather. (Minimum of spare long sleeve base layer carried with you in your pack and additional to what you are wearing to start the race)

Headtorch in case you are running into darkness. (most runners will experience some darkness)

All Runners must carry a charged mobile phone and provide us with the number on the entry form and registration for emergency communication.

Please be aware that kit can and will be be checked at any point before, during or at the finish of the race.

If you are found to be missing any of the above items then the race director reserves the right to add time penalties or even disqualify a runner. Even at the finish.

Kit is carried for your safety and it is fair to all if everyone is required to carry the same kit for all of the race.

We would also recommend that you carry base layer trousers and waterproof trousers, remember it is British winter and could be cold and wet or even snowy.
